Well the Nissan Versa is the first major collaborative effort between the two manufacturers to be sold in North America. And I can guarantee you this is not just a re-badged Renault. There's some styling cues were borrowed from Nissan's trendy French subsidiary. Triangles collide to form interesting head and tail lamp shapes. Sharp edge plains upfront catch the light to emphasize the curvature of the hood. Flat doors could've made the side profile boring but the back rate square rear windows keep things interesting in allude to the space inside. First thing that catches your eye is the full suede upholstery theme. They might have actually pulled it off with some authenticity if they see it weren't so mushy. It's such a disappointment and it makes it feel like cheap cloth. Suede insets in the door panels do look a little better executed. The door panel is so close to the seat that the recline controls had to be relocated to the center consul area. Those of you who're concerned about side impact safety don't worry side air bags are standard. It is a car for the budget minded. Floor mats are not included. Have a look at this center stack; it's got a really subtle metallic finish on it. That soft touch plastic it's a pretty classy piece but the same can't be said about the head unit. The stereo's display is an antique. It's a 7-segment LCD and there's no radio data system so if you hear a song and you're not sure of the title of it you can't press a button to see it. There's no way to seek through the entire band. You have to keep clicking the tune seek button. There are no steering wheel audio controls that means that you're spending a lot of time with your eyes off the road. One of the Versa's major competitors is the Honda Fit. It boasts a re-configurable anterior. One of it its modes its refresh mode. If you've been traveling for a long time you can recline the front seats and it forms a sofa to relax on. Versa owners like to point out that their car can do the same. It's important for hatchbacks to have a cargo cover to hand security. It's standard in the versa. Expect 17.8 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats out. Knock them down for 50.4 cubic feet to stash your baggage. And automatic transmission is optional but the fun choice is the standard 6-speed manual. Clutch uptake is general to accommodate 1st time stick shift drivers. The gears are really narrow side to side. Those are___2:47. It's tough to discern between 2nd 4th and 6th. It's actually that loud. Every Versa is powered by a 1.8 liter double overhead Cam4 cylinder engine. The motor produced is 122 hp. That's 10 more than the Honda Fit but 20 less than the Suzuki SX4. 127 pound feet of torque places the versa right in between those strong competitiors. Drop a few gears and the Versa eerily climbs to 6500 rpm red line. There's a lot of feedback for years under aggressive acceleration. But the Versa treads assuredly and there's no sense of small car knock about on a windy day. Antilock breaks are a package option but I believe the time has come to expect ABSs standard equipment at every price point. Electronic power steering is a new technology that will be widely adapted in the future. This system is lighter and more reliable than conventional hydraulic systems and you can find it in the Versa today. But since the technology is still being perfected there's a noticeable lack of road feel at speed. Once you got used to the car you can't help but think that the thin 185 series tires are holding it back. I feel the versa could be a real handler and maybe even a good auto cost car if it came with thicker rubber and standard equipment from the factory. The Nissan Versa has some tough competition. The Suzuki SX4 and Honda Fit still sure won superlative most athletic. The both of those are much smaller than the Versa. That's what sets this car apart. It offers more sheet metal for the money.
