Fresh Pack the inside scoops on the latest and the greatest direct from Trade Show floor. Hi I am Adam Barrera for Expo Television at the New York International Auto Show. And Steve Cossack the Chief Safety Engineer for Ford is responsible for the Taurus five-star safety rating. Can you give me a walk around the safety features that made this Taurus sell that you want to be in case of an accident? This is the Ford Taurus. It is the safest large sedan in North America. You got five-star ratings in the frontal crash and also five-star rating in the side impact. The Taurus has actually got several key safety stories when it comes to that. First of all we start with the structure of the vehicle. The front of course in the car's design is a three-load-front-press zone. That is fairly unique to its segment. That allows us to contain all the energy and crush outside of the occupant's compartment. Then when you look inside the vehicle you have the personal safety system. That is seven technologies all working together to tailor the airbag and seatbelt performance to the occupants inside the vehicle. So we got a suite of sensors in the vehicle. They are detecting the crash and detecting the occupant's condition. Are your belted? How big are you? How close are you sitting to the steering wheel etc? All those things factor in to what kind of airbag's schedule you get. How severe is the crash? And we can then bring it all together so that you get the kind of airbag and seatbelt performance that you need for your size stature and the kind of crash severity doing. Now the things that you have learned by developing the Taurus is safety system. Is that trickle down to other Ford model? Absolutely. As a matter of fact the platform that we start with here because of Ford's way forward platform strategy we are going to take the platform technology. And we are going to bring that same safety DNA heritage and pass it into the other vehicles that come from this platform. And if you look across the multiple other car lines that we have in the vehicle for family... All right. Well it is nice to hear cars are intended to keep family safe can actually do it.
