Iâm going to tell you about this Insignia portable DVD player. Insignia is the house brand of electronics at Best Buy. And this particular unit sells for about $100. It is a 7-inch diagonal and a wide screen DVD. One thing I really like is that the controls -- the main controls are right here on the front of the unit, so that you donât have to have the remote control with you in order to play the movie. You can control all from right here. Itâs really nice. Others players Iâve seen maybe only have a play and a pause and a next and a back button, which is really not that useful. Now this battery on the unit lasts about two or 2.5 hours, a little bit longer if you can dim the brightness on the screen itself. Right here, you have the volume control, you have the brightness control, and then over here you have two headphone jacks, which is a really nice feature. On the other side, you have the jack for the power adaptor. You get either â you can use either the wall adapter at home, or you can use the cigarette lighter adapter in your car. Next to that, little yellow port is an output for the AV cable, which is this thing right here. It lets you run the DVD on a larger TV like a home entertainment system or something. Now here in the front of the unit, you have two little speakers. It works okay in a quite small room, but if youâre going to be on an airplane or a car or bus, you probably need to use your headphones to hear it. It plays DVDs, it plays audio CDs, and it also plays MP3 discs, and JPEG photo disks. Iâve only ever tried DVDs in it. And itâs played everything Iâve given to it, which is really nice. No problems at all, nice and bright screen. And for a $100, I would definitely recommend this DVD player.
