Question

A friend of mine is pregnant, is this a good car seat to give as a shower gift?

I know the car seat is a little pricey, but I have heard the Britax is a very good car seat brand. Thanks!

It's a great seat - one of the best for saftey ratings. I would have been thrilled to receive it as a gift. Britax does make an even bigger seat which can allow for 5 pt harnessing for longer called the Regent. It's a huge seat though so depending on the vehicle it's going in, it might not be the best choice. The Marathon isn't small either though. Both of my kids have sat in Marathons and we were very happy. It was important to me to keep them 5 pt harnessed the longest and b/c my daughter is very tall she outgrew the seat in height way before weight - at about 4 years old. The Regent probably would have lasted at least another year.

I meant to add that this is the only carseat you would ever need for a child. It can be used when they are infants (if you choose not to use an infant seat), can rearface and then forward face. Many people shy away from the Britax b/c of price but end up buying 3 or more seats for one child. The Britax is worth every penny.
