Hi I'm Liz and I'm here to talk to you about American Beauty. This is as pretentious as it looks. All people really enjoyed American Beauty. I don't particularly. It's I think while this movie they're trying to really trade on its pretentiousness. Just like oh look at all these deep thoughts they're putting out there oh you know there is dancing plastic bag and so beautiful. So much more beautiful than this you know attractive girl who's shallow and yet at the same time Kevin Spacey's character this sort of fiery teenage who really creepily falls in love with his daughter's friend which is just weird. Everyone in this movie is creepy and that seems to be the norm. It's never really commented upon. Everyone's creepy everyone does strange things that people really don't generally do and yet that sort of I feel like the movie is trying to say yeah this is what people do but they don't. That's not normal. Everyone's creepy as never successfully dealt with. I never satisfied. Why does everyone behave this way? Why is that scary looking teenage boy constantly filming Thora Birch's character? And she falls in love with him. Why? Obviously he's weird. It's very unsettling. It really is. Some people really eat that kind of thing up and I just kind of ugh. So American Beauty if you like a lot of pretentiousness and sort of random ideas being thrown at you. Yeah Kevin Spacey of course is the hot point as he always is. Pretty much everything. He's the one good thing he's generally funny and kind of a genuinely good actor but can't really say of this. It sort of as compelling and at the same time at the end of it I wish I hadn't wasted my time. So I don't recommend this American Beauty.
