Pros: punchy and cracking drums, smooth bass lines
Cons: too slick and polished sound
The eight year difference between Veni Vidi Vicious, their debut, and The Black and White Album is very apparent. Every song has a specific catchy hook with a clean overall sound. Pelle's vocals are deeper and more soothing at parts of utter chaos. But it still works, and The Hives are still pumping out great tunes, even if they turn in a slightly different direction in order to cater to different listeners.
