Transcript of Featured Review

This review is on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT that has a kit with the lens 18-55mm. Here’s what the camera looks like and it’s actually a pretty nice, it’s in a grey cover, although it’s a plastic cover. It is 8-megapixels and has quite a small screen compared to how much you’re paying, but I believe it’s just under 2-inches. Lots of menu options right here and when you turn it on you’ll have your settings up here and you won’t actually be able to see the picture that you’re taking inside of this viewfinder here. You’re going to have to look up in this viewfinder to actually take the picture and once you do that then it will show it down here. I’ll demonstrate that real quickly because that’s a very different situation than the normal point and shoots. So, if I take-- that picture it will then show up, okay. The maximum shooting on this camera is three shots per second. So it is nice that if you do want to take a shot you can just -- pulls it down and take quite a bit of shots. The lens that does come with this is a pretty good all-purpose lens. It’s a 18-55mm and with the crop feature of this camera it’s actually gives you a better range than 55, so good all-purpose, walking around, taking pictures, inside, portraits, taking outside pictures with a little bit of zoom. Now this is a digital SLR camera, which means that you can actually remove the lens -- like that and there is a mirror inside, you can kind of see that right there that makes it different than a point-and-shoot. So, it actually makes a lot better. Your pictures will be a lot clearer and you’ll be able to change a lot more settings than you would with a point-and-shoot camera. But then the size is a lot bigger than a point-and-shoot. So, for this camera I really like it, it gets the job done when you want to take a very good quality picture and 8-megapixels is going to allow you to pretty much make any type of picture up to say 3x3 feet in diameter before you start losing any quality there. Now for a digital SLR one thing you do want to note and I can tell you here is it’s a little bit smaller than a lot of the competitors and even the different makes of Canon’s. So, what I would say is this is good for females or anyone with a smaller hand. If you have larger hands you may not actually like it because it’s going to be a little too small on your hand and might cramp up your hand. If you’re looking – if you do have big hands you might want to look at something a little bit bigger and you’ll be a little more satisfied. In the box, you get the box with the software, it does come with some pretty good software, it’s not professional stuff but it’ll get the job done, instructions, connection to connect it to the TV, connector to connect it to the computer and a strap for your camera. The battery charger, battery slides in there and actually then plugs into the wall. So that is the Canon Rebel XT 350 and I hope you enjoyed the review.

I have a camera just like this but it's not digital. Is it worth it to go digital while still an SLR? Does an LCD screen and other digital features help picture taking easier or is it more steps in the process?
