As I have said in the past I do buy a lot of Canon products like digital cameras video cameras scanners as you saw not too long ago. This is another product that I ve picked up because I do print a lot of my digital photos. Even though my Inkjet printer my Epson one prints great photos and I do a lot of photo prints at Wal-Mart Walgreen and all those types of places this was just another option. I got it for $19.95 with one of the digital cameras that I purchased. Pretty much all it is is a self contained photo printer and it uses I believe dye sublimation or thermal printing ribbons to print on the special paper. That s the only downside. It needs special paper and special ink that you have to buy. It s like an ink roll. Also the paper comes in these little paper trays and it s kind of pricey - rounded out to 27 25 cents each. Now for the ink of the printer there are a couple of independent manufacturers that manufacture it and you can get it a little bit cheaper. The one good thing about this is they do sell postcard I guess thickness and size which is pretty much 4 x 6 things to print on and that s pretty good because we like to send out postcards for the Holidays. We can print our own there and those come out relatively inexpensive compared to printing them up somewhere else though you may have to do a big run. Right here we can just do a short run amount of postcards and it has photograph quality. So there are a few advantages to the Canon Selphy and it goes with an AC-DC adapter and all your needed supplies. This is where the color and cartridge goes in right here. It has USB connectors for your camera and it also connects to the computer and things like that you can do to the computer and have your camera go through in here like a loop through type thing. There are a couple of brands; Epson has their own; HP has her own. They re all about the same price and it s really up to you. Maybe one would work better with your camera. Maybe have some type of docking cradle or a screen but it s something good. If you want to put up postcards it s something cool to have for around 20 bucks. A lot of times they include these with the cameras when you purchase them or they re free after rebate. That s probably the only way I ll spend the money on it. To spend a $140 or $120 for what they really go for is kind of over the top. Just send the pictures to Wal-Mart and get those printed professionally. They run from about 18 cents each and that s really the way to go or just print them on your Inkjet and just do it that way. It s not the biggest recommendation. It is a cool little device to have especially if you want to carry it with your laptop just to print when you want to. Again you can go to the Kodak print center and just print right from your memory card. So not really recommended like I said you can get it for free. A cool tool to have.
