Hi I'm Nick for Expo TV and today I'll be reviewing the Clerks Collector's Series Widescreen DVD. Clerks is a really great movie that was made in the early '90s. It's a real classic put out by Kevin Smith. He wrote and directed it. It's the start of Jay and Silent Bob. It's their first appearance. It's -- it's in black and white which is kind of weird but it still doesn't make it ruin the movie at all. It's really actually kind of adds to the effect of it being kind of like an older independent-type film and it's really well written. It's really funny about a guy who works in a convenience store and his buddy who works in the video rental place next door and just their day at work. He gets up gets called in to work and the movie is basically his day. It's -- the Collector's Edition which has a lot of special features including an alternate ending that wasn't in the original one where he gets robbed and shot at the end so that's pretty cool and it's got a lot of audio commentary about the director Kevin Smith and there's a Soul Asylum video on it as well that was off the soundtrack. It's a really hilarious movie. I definitely have to recommend it. If you've never seen it before you should really go out and get it. It's really great.

Summary
Before Kevin Smith became a Hollywood darling with Chasing Amy , a film he wrote and directed, he made this $27,000 comedy about real-life experiences working for chump change at a New Jersey convenience store. A rude, foul-mouthed collection of anecdotes about the responsibilities that go with being on the wrong side of the till, the film is also a relationship story that takes some hilarious turns once the lovers start revealing their sexual histories to one another. In the best tradition of first-time, ultra-low budget independent films, Smith uses Clerks as an audition piece, demonstrating that he not only can handle two-character comedy but also has an eye for action--as proven in a smoothly handled rooftop hockey scene. Smith himself appears as a silent figure who hangs out on the fringes of the store's property. --Tom Keogh
