Clever Cat LItter Box Question

Does this litter box work effectively?

I worry about how it would smell, but otherwise that is an awesome idea. Both of my cats are little but HUGE diggers. The minute I change their litter they are flipping litter out of the swinging door on their litter box. The covered box with a door doesn't even deter my little evil masterminds!
