Not at all. The sound quality is worth it. The only disappointment was plastic that broke so treat them with care and don't put them in bags that may get smashed or banged against something.
When I bought my Triports I asked the salesperson about the plastic being known to break, and she told me it was no longer an issue with the most recent models. That was 2 years ago and they've held up just fine. I use them for everything and take them with me whenever I travel. I've long forgotten about the $150. If anything I take them for granted now.
I also heard that if anything breaks, Bose replaces it free of charge for the life of the product
i had two that broke, both lasted about a year and a half. bose said they were out of the 1 year warranty and charged me $30 a pair to replace. took about a week and a half to get the two new pairs.
