I haven't seen a vast improvement in intelligence or anything, but if anything it does keep you sharp. Games are pretty simple pick up and play, the best example I can give is the addition game, which gives you a group of addition problems and you see how fast you can do it. While it's not necessarily something that will help you learn calculus, I did notice an improvement in how fast I could crunch basic problems.
If you have parents or friends that aren't often challenged with simple things like this, let them try it. It's surprising how addicting adding can be.
I do think they help you out. They help your quick-ness, keep you using those simple things you learned when you were a child. And if you have children this is a great item because it helps them practice their addition, multiplication etc which is all lots of fun!
I agree with the other answers -the games help keep you sharp and quick!
The more you use and challenge your brain the better it will be. You already know all the answers but if you aren't using the information, it's harder to get to. Playing this game improoves instant recall. Muscles become more efficient when they are exercised, so does your brain.
