Does it really work that quickly?

mspacmanplayer posted on March 31, 2008 at 5:06 pm

I saw the Infomercial for this on TV and it says that you can press the mixer around 3 times, which is a few seconds, and the items placed in the mixer are completely chopped and mixed. Does that really work or does it take a lot longer than that?

Take the commercial with a fist-sized grain of salt. They make it look like, well magic.

In real life I found that it will chop about half the contents in the first few seconds. The rest are thrown up and stuck to the top of the cup requiring tapping, banging, flipping, and cajoling to get it down to the blades. You blend again and half of that goes back up to the top. So maybe think of the few seconds as the half life of mixing :)

It depends on what you're blending but I've had some recipes where I worked the machine for over a minute. This is a problem because it can overheat.

I think it works for drinks and softer items. I can't remember exactly because I don't use it that often anymore.

In my video, I put in an entire banana, three large strawberries and some milk, and the whole thing was blended together in maybe 10 seconds.

I agree with both previous replies. It depends on what you are mixing and which blade you are using. If you try to chop eggs or chicken, and fill it, it will finely chop some and the rest gets stuck in the top till you shake it down. It is certainly not just a few seconds since you have to remove it and shake it up a few times and may finally give up and leave the lumps. If you are mixing softer stuff like fruit it can work better.

I've never actually chopped food up with my magic bullet but however, it works great for making things such as pancake mix and so on. We drink a lot of smothies "health nut" so we like to use our bullet for things like that. My in-laws actually used their so much they are now buying a second one.

Sorry to say it but it really depends on the food type. I found that chicken takes the longest.
