    Transcript of Video Review

I'm Mike and I'll be reviewing a video game this is already in the machine really all I need to do is turn on the TV and we can get going; so I'm going to sit back down so we can play. The game we're reviewing today is Dragon Quest VIII for the PS2 Journey of the Cursed King. It's got a very artsy almost cartoonish style to it. I'll give you a little preview right away you can tell that this game is actually in my opinion very good by two things: one the fact that I've already beaten the game and two it might be kind of hard to see text that's small but the file I'm loading right now I've already played 103 hours. So we're going in to the game. You always start the game saved at a church so they're the only safe points I have to go outside so I can teleport somewhere. It's a pretty simplistic RPG you go around fighting things you get items your team consists primarily of four characters the hero the brutish guy the sort of suave guy and the token female. If you've ever played any of the Dragon Quest games before they seem to follow a fairly simplistic version of this or [indiscernible] it's actually the same style as all the other Dragon Quest games. Unlike other serious such as Final Fantasy some of the combat really hasn't gotten that much more complex which is fine in my opinion it really gives you a feel for the games from the 80s and early 90s but for those of us who grew up playing those yeah you might kind of miss it. So let's go somewhere where we can fight seeing how the battle system is the primary component. That will be the main character. Wow it really didn't take long at all to get to the fight [indiscernible]. Dragon Quest system uses a very fairly similar to lots other ones such as Final Fantasy. One notice with difference is when you're [indiscernible] you will always assume to be facing the monsters. So you don't always see yourself its really not very difficult battle right here. I believe I can take them out pretty easily. I'll try and show a handful of items handful of different attacks gives you a little sense of it. Hopefully these will work. Use some specialized attacks to make it a little more graphically advanced. 'Hope that wasn't a bad idea that might kill everything in one hit. Oh there's at least a couple left good. So the battle will take more than one round. [Indiscernible] the hit points lost. Really easy there's lots of one hit kills because I'm an area way earlier in the game from where I was. Kill them all the thing resets gets some experience some gold maybe some items that were dropped. You run around. You have control of the cameras as well as walking so you can go and you can go in the first person view. The graphics are actually really good especially for the game itself. I believe I bought this I don't think I bought this game new? I bought this at one of the used in what-not stores. I paid about $20 for this definitely worth it. I could say paying even more than that. I'd say this game is a five out of five. It's exactly what it was supposed to be. Hey there's another fight. Let's do it just for the fun of it. [Indiscernible]. The story is exactly moderately compelling. Once you actually start getting in to it RPGs tend to be a little mellow-dramatic so it's the epic battle of good and evil save the world kind of stuff. I don't want to go anymore in the story than that otherwise it might ruin it. You know actually I think we're done here. So Dragon Quest is five out of five well worth getting.
