The Fantastic Four are the first family of Marvel comics and should have translated into a great movie. Instead this review finds things(no pun intended) seriously lacking in the villian department. The casting is 50/50 and the story is pretty weak. All in all just an average film in what should have been a great movie.

ExpoTV has thousands of reviews from people just like you!
(Intro music) Well I am Michael and welcome to Laser Light here on Expo TV. The DVD up on the screen and up for review is The Fantastic Four. Four adventurers and one ruthless businessman have all traveled up in an orbiting space station in order to watch a cosmic storm pass by. Unfortunately things don t always happen in nature the way we expect. And the cosmic storm arrives much earlier than anticipated bombarding our five people with an enormous amount of cosmic radiation. What will happen to these people? Well things turn out to be fantastic or are they all doomed? Let us take a look and find out. (Music from the movie) That can t be right. The event threshold in T minus nine minutes 37 seconds. That is impossible. It should be seven hours. The Fantastic Four is the first family of Marvel Comics. And as such you would have thought the writers would have an easy time picking and choosing from all over 30 years of comic history in order to create a slam-bang movie that just about everyone would enjoy. They didn t. They made a major mistake. And it is one that went throughout many Marvel movies. Bad villain in this case Doctor Doom. Instead of being a larger than life evil than bad you got an entrepreneurial wingy. And it didn t help that the actor chosen to play him has actual serial screen presence. The other actors in this movie? Well it is a 50-50 split. Michael Chickler and Chris Evans do a pretty good job as the Human Torch and the Thing. But the actor an actress chosen to play Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Girl There are some moments that actually worked. And there are other that have horribly missed the mark. And now let us take a look at this DVDs inside stats. The Fantastic Four is available in 5.1 DTS 5.1 Dolby Digital and Spanish Dolby Surround. It comes with English and Spanish subtitles; it is available in the 235:1 aspect ratio. It is rated PG 13 for intense action and suggested content. And it runs 106 minutes. As far as extras go you get quite a boatload. There is the exclusive look at X3 the third X-men movie. As the audio commentary by the four stars which is funny in places and well worthless in two. The video diary a behind the scenes home video from each of the cast members some deleted scenes which you can pass over. They add nothing to your viewing experience. A making up featurette some music videos which are pretty useless and the theatrical teaser and trailer. I am going to give the Fantastic Four three stars. It is not a bad movie but the writers paid more attention to the history of the Fantastic Four in the comics they could have made this a movie that everyone would like. They ignored their core audience which is the comic book lover. They tried to fit it in for just about everyone a bad idea. Let us change the casting on that Doom guy. He was just horrible. So if you are going to buy rent or wait for cable this time I have to tell you to wait fro cable. There is just no way can I authorize someone buying this unless you are a hardcore comic fan and you want to add all of the Marvel movies to your collection. I would like to thank you for joining me here in Laser Light. And I will see you at my next review. Thank you.
