Hello expotv. Today I'll be reviewing the Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS. I got this recently because I was moving to a new city and have no idea how to get around and in that regard it's been a life saver several times. I don't know how I would find my way across Southern California without this thing. But I does have a few issues that I'll discuss later on but first let's just have a look at the features. The screen you're gonna spend 90 percent of your time looking at is just this basic map which turns depending on where your car is facing so north does not always mean up which was kind of I think a poor choice because if you just glance at it you might not realize exactly which direction you're heading but it's a minor thing. You can navigate in a couple of different ways. You can do it by an address by point of interest which is where you type in say do you need food or fuel or transiters all these different categories and it will show things that are closest to you. So it will go fuel and it shows me and the others a gas station in point three and point four. And if I click on it and say go it will calculate and give me step by step directions on how to get to my destination which is nice. Now a lot of reviews for GPSs that I've read say things like you know that they don't give you the best fruit that you know they take you down some weird streets but the purpose of a device like this is definitely not to find the most efficient route. It's more of just you know get me from point A to point B somehow without getting turned around and does that for the most part. However I've noticed that when you get in the car for the first time first of all if you turned it on if you haven't been leaving it on it takes sometimes a few minutes to acquire the satellite signal which can be frustrating because you either start driving and you know it picks up later or you have to sit there in the car for a few minutes while it finds the satellite which is kind irksome. I'm not sure exactly what they can do to fix that but. The other issue is that the GPS is only accurate within something like 50 feet it says which isn't really an issue. And I'm not sure if it's because of that or for a different reason but a lot of times if I'm in especially if I'm in a really narrow road it's like this happens to be but I'll turn it on and it'll think I'm several street over. So I pretty much have to just ignore the directions it's giving me for a while until like I'm into a major road because it's telling me turn left here turn right here to get on to a road that I'm not anywhere near. And that's definitely an issue when you're using a device that you know promises not to get you lost. So all in all it's a great device. It's cheap for a GPS. I think it was something like a 170 dollars when I bought it. They've definitely come down in price a lot. And if you have any kind of navigation issues they're a very fun thing to have. I don't have to worry about showing up late to a job interview or whatever because I couldn't find the place. So all in all I would recommend it and I think that a lot of the bugs that it has are gonna be pretty universal with GPSs so unless you really feel like you need the top of the line I think that the Garmin Nuvi series should be more than enough.
