I am not buying gift cards because I am unsure which businesses will be around to actually use them in. It is not because gift cards do not go on sale.

I do not think that giving gift cards will save you any money this holiday season. I prefer to give money if I can think of nothing else to give. That way the receiver can decide where to spend the money. However,...

I don't like to give gift cards because they are impersonal, you can't get them on sale, and I am afraid the store could go out of business.

Perhaps people are passing up buying Gift Cards in favor of buying actual gifts from stores. Many stores have terrific “door busters” and other discounts, which wouldn’t apply to Gift Cards purchases; but I think...

I didn't think about it that way but the article makes sense to me. It's going to be one of the worst holiday shopping seasons for retailers in a long time but that means there should be some great deals out there.

I always feel like I am being creepily impersonal to give a gift card. I find myself accessorizing it with mittens and a scarf if its to a clothes store or a booklight if its to a bookstore. I sometimes give them...

I hate and love gift cards. I hate them because it's one of those gifts that doesn't require any thought or effort or time, so if i get one basically the person who gave it to me is saying that they put no effort into my gift what so ever. But, on the other hand, if you're a difficult person to get a gift for or are really picky with what you like, it's the perfect solution! You can get whatever you like and you don't have to fake enthusiasm for a gift that you hate or stand in long lines to return.
