it doesn't convert but if you table is high enough you would be able to push the chair into the table without the tray on
When I put my toddler in it this is what I do. The seat recline button in the front , pull is and push the back of the high chair at the same time and it will adjust the seat forward for big kids. Then push both tray buttons (on the side of the highchair) at the same time to adjust the tray position. It will sit them up straight rather then leaned back like infants are comfortable with. Hope that hepls.
I agree with the other two posts. I don't always use the tray table (depending on what we are eating.. messy I use the tray table) and I just push her up to the table. The seat it big enough that she is going to be in it for a long time (until she doesn't need a booster). What a money saver!
