sounds like it is faulty. I would try turning it off and then on again. Take out the batteries for a few minutes and put new ones in. See if it fixes the problem. Be sure to download all the updates.
I had this problem in the past, you need to plug in the flip to your computer, and while plugged in, empty your recycle bin, then you can eject the cam and you should be good. let me know if that works

plug it to your computer and clear it from the computer. my computer -> removable disk(flipcamera) -> delete all the video files
