Oh my gosh, what a hard question. It's never talked about in the Disney version of Peter Pan who exactly the lost boys are or where they came from. In this movie they are just a group of little boys who have no parents, just like Peter, and have grouped together to be their own family.

If you watch a different version of this movie (I believe it's called Hook) they talk about it. That they are orphan boys who didn't have family and couldn't remember their mothers or didn't think they had mothers. They were 'lost' without a family and that is why they were called the lost boys.
