Is this a durable baby carrier?

Jessicagnon posted on April 14, 2008 at 2:48 pm

I am thinking of getting a girlfriend a car seat for her as a baby shower gift. is the Snug Ride a good choice for a baby carrier?

It is very durable. It also fits and is compatible with Graco strollers. You should find out her type of stroller before buying this to make sure it matches (if she cares about that - most mothers do).

I agree - it is very durable, but you should check to see if she has a Graco stroller (they are great strollers too, very durable, ours has held up through 2 kids 7 years apart - we kept the stroller, but got a new infant carrier/carseat.) I haven't checked the updated information, but at the time I bought mine (just over a year ago), the Graco Snugride was the highest rated infant carrier/carseat for safety (from Consumer Reports.) It was the only one that passed a couple of their tests, I believe.

Wow -- thanks for the quick reply. Glad I asked the question. I am not a mother yet and didn't think about the stroller compatibility ... I'll try to hint around to that. Although she is only 4 months pregnant so I might be a little premature in terms of planning her shower! My first friend to have a baby so I am a little excited. LOL

Thanks again,
Jess

Glad we were helpful, Jess. You might also want to see where/if/for what she registers. Most people register around 5 or 6 months (after they find out if it's a boy or girl, if they're going to find out), so she's probably just started thinking about that. You could recommend that she watch some Expo reviews before registering for products :D. I probably did more product research for baby things than anything else I've ever bought. Anyway, glad we could help!

My son is 10 months old and still in his Graco carseat. It is fantastic. It holds up to 22 pounds...which is usually around a year old. It is definitely very durable. Mine shows no wear or tear and I plan to use it with future kids as well.

Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat

Average Rating:

4.5 stars

based on 31 video reviews

By far the most reviewed car seat by Expo members, the Graco SnugRide is the standard starting point for mothers shopping for infant car seats. The 'stay-in-car' base allows the seat to double as a carrier. There are a variety of styles, just make sure your choice includes the EPS (an energy absorbing foam) liner.
