My name is Alex and today I'm going to be reviewing the Cord, Micro-cord. It's an analog modeling synthesizer. And it still retails for about $399 after three years of being out which is kind of odd, but it's a good product. It's been on the market so a long for the same price. Turn it on here. -- Cord -- Micro-cord has 128 voice patches, which can be accessed by this patch select knob here. This is the main select knob and you can pick between 8 little name settings. The names are dumb, but you can reprogram all of it. So, it's not a big deal. - It's everything from trance, techno-house, electronica, drum and base, hip-hop, retro, specials like hits and chart-busters. -- Each of those then have 8 individual voices and, well 16 because there's a side A and B. So, 16 times 8 -- 128 voices. -- Other features it has -- there's these two edit select knobs right here, -- which let you edit all the parameters of each individual voice. For example, if I pick -- [Music] -- this voice and I go to oscillator 1, I can change the waveform from saw to sign to a digital pre-sample dorky thing. You know I can change -- [Music] -- all sorts of parameters to make it sound 1000 times worse. -- That's pretty bad sounding, but that's not how this sounds. This is a very good sounding instrument. -- It has a lot of -- well, you can pretty much make any analog voice on here by either the keyboard, which is hard to edit with these little -- three -- display things here. You have to learn like, the little names it uses, or you can use the cord editing software available on their website, which is a great thing to have. -- On the back of the keyboard itself you've got MIDI in, out, and thru ports. -- There are also two input ports. This is for a quarter inch -- instrument input and this -- these are the microphone inputs. You've got -- both have volume control knobs. This one here has dynamic - quarter-inch microphone input and a condensed -- condensor mic eight-inch input and there's also a stereo -- stereo out and a left and right channel output. Some of the reasons why people like Micro cord so much are the -- no, -- the -- also like the other patches it has. It's also obviously all editable. So, you don't have to deal with all -- their little prefab patches. Some of them are pretty cool. It also has a pitch and module -- wheel so you can change all sorts of things. -- The 5 knobs here will cut off, resonance, attack, release and tempo, but they actually control all of these parameters when using the edit / select knobs. The - Micro cord is also complained about a lot because did has very small these are mini keys and they bother a lot of people. So, that's one of the bad things about it. The cool thing about it is it's portable. It runs off of an A/C adapter or 6 AA batteries. The 6 AA batteries last about four or five hours and that's pretty good. -- It is a pretty powerful package for the price and the size. It's much better than the competitors that -- at least this micron is a very similar synthesizer but, it's not nearly as good, in my opinion. 00.03:49.000 The local is only 8 band. So, it's not very high quality. So, that bothers some people because it always sounds like a robots down the street in a tin can yelling at you. The robot I mean by the vocoding effect on your voice. -- Some of the other features of the Micro cord are the arpegiator, which is programmable. And the object shift buttons. So, if I pick any voice I can do some kind of neat arpegiation. -- And, I can also object shift so I can go like -- that was really bad too. -- So that's it the cord, Micro-cord. -- Retails for about $399 and it's a great little synthesizer. So, check it out.
