Reviewed on 08/27/07       Plays: 167

I bought this integrated cable modem/wireless router to work with my Comcast cable service. In this video I'll explain why I like it despite some minor technical issues.

Hi I am here to talk about this Linksys Wireless G Cable Gateways that you see right here behind me. I recently started subscribing to Comcast High-Speed Internet Service and they originally use these cable modem. But while it worked it wasn't really what I wanted. It didn't have any wireless capabilities. It only had one Ethernet jack which is bad when you are trying to share multiple computers in an apartment. So I bought this and it has been everything that I could ask for except for a few technical difficulties. It has four Ethernet jacks and also a wireless router with 128-bit encryption with Mac address access control. Basically it has all the security you should want. The only problems are when I first installed it the Comcast technician didn't really understand that it worked as a router that it can assign its own IP addresses. So I had to sit there and explain and talk to multiple people to get it to work properly. The other is that when I have a persistent connection to open up my laptop say I am messaging to my school network it tends to drop it after maybe 30 seconds or a minute of idle time unless I keep a program actively running or something to keep the connection open. But aside from that the wireless capabilities are great. I am very glad I bought it. And I would recommend that if you are subscribing to some sort of cable internet service that you get this product is something very much like
