Hello I'm Michael and welcome to Lazer Light here on Expo TV. The DVD up on the screen and up for review is Madagascar. In New York Central Park Zoo there are four animals who are good friends: the lion hippopotamus the giraffe and the zebra and it would seem from all indications that they're living the perfect life. They get fed regularly there's no predators and they have the adulation of all the other people who come to the zoo. But one of them the zebra well he's not very happy. He's heard about something called "The Wild" and his biggest desire is to get out of the zoo and see it. The zebra takes it upon himself to leave the zoo and that's where our story really starts. Let's take a look. [Movie clip] With Madagascar I feel that DreamWorks has a film that is going to stand the test of time. Avoiding the dated references of the later Shrek films and the so-so story from Shark Tale Madagascar has the feeling of one of the old Disney classics. In other words it's a story that will stand the test of time and that story is about friendship and the sacrifices that will be made for those friends. The voice casting in this movie well it's just excellent. Ben Stiller who I normally find to be a bit tiresome in lead roles is cast perfectly here and Chris Rock David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett-Smith round out a terrific cast. There are also several dozen other voices in this DVD that if you listen closely you will probably recognize. I particularly found the character of King Julien to be quite humorous as he talked to the other lemurs. Most of those features were pretty funny. The animation in this DVD well it's topnotch. From the lush jungles to the cold Arctic the animators really had an eye for detail and the transfer to the DVD from the original film perfect. It looks tremendous on the screen. This film is in Dolby Digital 5.1. If you care to listen to it and you're surround and subwoofer well they're gonna get quite a workout in some of the scenes. This movie is rated PG for some crude humor and thematic elements which might not appeal to younger viewers but I think you'll be able to get by with everyone from the age of say six and up. I'm going to give Madagascar five soaring stars. I think everyone should have this DVD in their collection and if you're young or old you'll enjoy it. I'm gonna go back and watch the rest and I'll see you at my next review. Thank you.

The penguins steal the show. In the sprightly Madagascar , a mid-life crisis inspires Marty the Zebra (voiced by Chris Rock) to escape from his lifelong home, a New York zoo. His equally pampered friends--Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe...
