Listening to MP3 files can be very good, depending of course on the bitrate you've used during encoding; I think the included earbuds are just okay sound quality-wise, but the nice thing is that the headphone attachment allows you to plug in any 1/8" headphones of your choice. This is designed to be a combination MP3 player/cellphone, and it does both pretty well.

This phone also lets you browse and transfer music files over Bluetooth as well, which is convenient (although slow).

The quality is decent. Comparable to an iPod, but not to true high-end audio.

The speaker on this Sony Ericsson is louder than my Blackberry Curve. Both are really clear sound (depending on the file type). When using the headphones received with the phone package, it's just like using an actual mp3 player.
