It's an Italian made machine and I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago. Absolutely it has appealed to my A type personality and I've gone from a very rare expresso drinker to the mildly obsessed expresso drinker looking for that absolutely perfect shot. So first let me show a couple of the controls on this machine and then while she step back behind camera and show you the process of actually making a shot of expresso using this particular machine. Since a lot of us here in Americal haven't had as much exposure to expresso as I've had in Europe. So while it looks complicated actually relatively simple this is the on off button. This is top button allows you to make a cup a expresso this is a hot water switch which uses this wand right here which is also the steam wand. And the steam is drive when you push this button. And let me just explain right again before I step back on the machine. Semi automatic isn't bad as in automatic as you can get on the home machine. It just means that the water pressure which is use to make a cup of expresso is generated inside the machine itself fully automatic means it would be hook up to your plumping which is not something many of us wanna take on at home. So what you do is you put the water into the top of the machine right here just like a coffee maker and it pumps to a boiler inside the machine and it gets pressurized and pushes through what's called the group right here through the port of filter and that makes your cup of expresso. And I'll show you a little bit more about that again as step on the camera and show you some of the method for doing that. So as pick action back on this review what we've got here are some expresso beans that have been put into ground and put into the port of filter. They've been pressed in with this press to get them squeeze down which is part of this expresso making process and we've also got a couple preheated insulated expresso cups which are ready to take this double shot of expresso. So what you do now is you attach the port of filer into what's called the group head we'll put the 2 cups underneath the spouts of the port of filter you can see how they seat under there quite nicely to catch the expresso and now we're gonna do is start the action usually takes 25 to 30 seconds to make a cup of expresso. And what were gonna look for is actually for this not to look like coffee but to look like foam coming out. So take a look and see how the Silvia does in terms of producing this honey-like very creamy coffee that should look like almost like avalanche as it falls down into the cups. It gotta be a little noisy but here we go (Sound from the coffee maker) takes a few seconds since we started and there we see expressing out coming out a little fast that's nice. And what you want is a little bit over an ounce in each shot. So we're getting there quickly and you can see the creama form at this point appears to be taking up almost the entire cup and it will settle into the top. So this is turning into quite a nice shot of expresso a double shot of expresso. Here we go turn it off and you can see again the creama settling to the top and it looks like we're having a delicious shot of expresso.
