Is the shuffle's random playlist a good thing? I think it would be better if we knew what we were going to listen to. and be able to 'see' the mp3 data....price wise its decent but is the randomness worth the money?
I have an iphone, ipod, and a shuffle. If I was debating on only getting one I probably wouldn't get this shuffle even though I do like it. I like it for working out because it is so small and I don't have time to worry about picking songs. You don't have to have it in shuffle mode you can play your songs in order. You can also pick the songs you want on your shuffle, it doesn't have to be a random pick from your library, even though you can do it that way.
I think if you are worried about price, worried about size, and worried about what the heck you are listening to I would get the ipod nano. Small enough to store anywhere, has a screen, and you can see what you are listening to.
I agree with astalker (never thought I'd say that! LOL). The size is perfect for working out or doing something kind of mindless where you don't need to worry about what's coming up next. That's why I only put the RIGHT songs on my shuffle - the only ones I would want to listen to while working out. I clip it to my shirt or shorts and then forget about it. I think that's what it's intended for based on its size, weight, capacity, and price. It's definitely worth the money.
Hi. Thanks for your question.
I really do think that it's up to you whether it is worth the money or not. I tend to be in different moods for different songs. Sometimes I want shuffle, sometimes I want things to play in order. A great thing about the shuffle, and I'm not sure about the latest one, but at least on mine, is: there's a setting that is continuous play, which plays the songs in alphabetical order. So, if you know what you want to hear, it's easy to find. The shuffle setting is helpful, too, especially if you're alone and don't know what you want to hear exactly. It feels kind of cosmic, like the songs are picked for you for a reason. Also, I have anxiety if people are around and want music, I like the shuffle setting because it takes some responsibility off me.
I have another ipod with the screen, and it has it's advantages, too, but most of the time, I listen to the shuffle so that I don't have to use the screen. I feel like the screen makes things more complicated, and especially if you're driving, can even be dangerous.
I realize that a lot of this response has to do with my personal quirks, but hopefully, you'll be able to relate or at least make a more informed decision.
PS: Depending on where you buy, you could probably buy it, try it out, see if you like it and return it if you don't.
I love the shuffle shuffle feature, its great
well, I don't think it's truly random when you're the one choosing the songs to put inside the shuffle. Plus you should know what song is playing since you chose to put it inside.
The shuffle is really only good for working out, in my opinion. If you have another ipod, it is fine but having only the option of shuffle and nothing else, wouldn't do it for me.
It depends of what you want. If you don't like the randomness, then don't buy the shuffle
The shuffle's random setting is all it says it is. Random. It also has a normal play setting. If you don't like shuffle, set it to normal play. If you want more storage space or a screen, get a nano or classic.
