Hi. Iâm reviewing the Sony TRV25 Digital mini DV Camcorder. This was our first camcorder and weâve been pretty happy with it for the most part. It has, I think about a 10x optical zoom and you know I donât really like to pan it. Itâs a 120x digital zoom and I donât really like the digital zoom because itâs not real, itâs pixilated sometimes. And itâs kind of using the computer to see what the zoom would be. So I like to stick with the optical. That would be my one recommendation when you are looking at cameras and digital cameras. The, it has a one mega, megapixels camera kind of built into it though we hardly ever use it because the image quality isnât that good. Iâd rather just use a digital camera if I was going to do it. It records onto a memory stick if you want to do that. The video quality is good. And itâs pretty easy to use. The one thing that it has that some other cameras donât have is it has night vision. Weâve tried it before. The one thing that youâll notice it does do a pretty good job of being able to pick up people at night. But every body looks green and so, if youâre filming a lot of night stuff, then may be this is good for you if you donât mind it being green because it does a pretty good job. The one thing about this is that itâs a little bit heavy. Its, itâs -- thereâs a lot lighter cameras out there now and youâll notice this after 10 or 15 minutes of shooting with this if you are holding it. If youâre sitting it on a tripod doing it for maybe, like, a wedding or something like that, itâs great. And for the most part weâve been happy with it. The LCD screen: it looks pretty big on the side but its 2½ inches. We have the option of getting a little bit bigger one, which would kind of fill up almost this whole thing that is 3½ inches. But the one thing about that is the bigger the LCD screen, the more battery it takes. 0001:49.000Speaking of battery, it uses you know couple of different kinds. This is the one that comes with it. Itâs, you know, pretty compact and you get two and a half hours on this, which is pretty good. If you want the bigger one, youâll probably get about four and a half hours on it and that will probably be more than you normally need on a charge. You know, all in all, itâs a pretty good video camera. Itâs mini DV so it makes it easier to transfer to computer obviously because itâs Sony it has firewire which they call, I think, iLink or something like that. So, you know, good camera, camcorder for the most part. A little bit heavy but, but on the most part we liked it.
