A great studio quality workstation, but be sure you really have a use for all of the features, or you might feel overwhelmed or disappointed. Triton Extreme 88, Instruments, Music & Musical Equipment

This is my review of the Korg Triton Extreme Music Workstation It is a sort of a studio workstation 88 keys weighted velocity sensitive hammer action keys it has a touch screen which is pretty cool for selecting programs so right now we are a concert grand (keyboard sound). And I go to organ and I say pipes and I go (keyboard sound) or I go to [unintelligible] and I say I don't know what you are and I go (keyboard sound). Yeah that's a hoot. It's also got all of your corny never-ever-to-be-used things like (keyboard sound). Yeah we don't really use those they're just there to pad the you know list the features on the box. I don't think anyone has ever used one of those pre-packaged deals before in their life. Interesting plus you've got let me see if I can get this to a thing where it will actually work maybe [unintelligible] (keyboard sound) so how do I do this? Let's see I play the (keyboard sound too loud) and that little XY controller the joystick controls various parameters which you can set yourself in this guy. 'Number of knobs and buttons for you to play with input trim autoboost tube gain output level low pass and high filters equalizers and various assignable things like that... One thing that I thought was kind of neat is let me see if I can find it under one of the organs the pipes on knob so you can play a note and turn the volume a little bit (keyboard sound) and you can play so you can hit a note or a few (keyboard sound continuous) and turn on the various stops. Though really it's obviously not the actual stops it's just again high pass and low pass and various things like that but that was pretty cool for some semblance that actually a real pipe organ instead of that just same cathedral sound that you always get. It has various recording functions on it that I find a little bit cumbersome but that's what you get when you buy professional gears very cumbersome and being raised on computers and using computers for recording I find actual hardware interface is not very user-friendly let's just say. One of its little novelties is it's got a tube like a valve tube so like old amps had they say you're supposed to be able to tell the difference. Let me see here. Here's an LC (keyboard sound) and if it said turn on the tube (clicking sounds with the keyboard sound) I'm not sure there's a difference. I think it's supposed to be base here but since I was playing middle C maybe I just don't hear that much of a difference. It's very very slight. I never mess with that at all but overall if you are a serious keyboardist or you have a lot of money to blow this is definitely pretty cool. I do wish it had actual synthesizer functions. It is just a sampler. It plays prerecorded samples and you can modify them on a thing on the controls but you do not have any control you cannot generate a sign waver a triangle waver or so [unintelligible] like that but very cool and I wish that I was a good enough pianist to take full use of it but if you're just exceptional at piano and want to branch into more synthesized sounds then this is a pretty cool keyboard.
