Question

my garmin nuvi 200 was bought in nov. 07.my question is, how old are the maps and is there a free up date on them?

It's probably NT (NavTeq) City Navigator 2008.

My Nuvi 200 is now rather out of date but it is $69.99 for an update from Garmin/NT. A newer unit with the latest 2010 map is around $100 if you look around so that might even be a possibility..

You can get updates for your unit from Garmin.

I got one free update when I bought mine. Otherwise, it is just about as cheap to buy a new unit.

yes, it can be updated. You can log onto www.mygarmin.com where you registered the unit and you can pay for a new map update. But with all the new features on the newer models, it may be wiser to purchase a new GPS unit. I also own the Garmin 260 which is almost the same as yours, but there is not enough memory in the older units to handle most updates.
