Hey, guys, Mark here coming to you from South Dakota, and today we are talking about the Palm Treo 600. This sleek little device offers a lot of features. It's basically a cell phone, MP3 player, digital camera, as well as a full functional PDA. So let's go ahead and take a closer look at the Treo. All right, so let's a get an in-depth look at the Treo 600 here, so we'll go ahead and go through some of the physical features of this thing. So right on the bottom here you've got your sync cable as well as your charger outlet. This is where you're gonna plug in maybe a USB cable to sync that with your Mac or PC. Here you've got a headset you can plug in right there, as well as the stereo adapter if you're interested in the MP3 compatibility there. There is as small reset port right there. Right on the side here is the two volume buttons that we talked about for ignoring calls or controlling the actual volume on the Treo. Of course, the antenna there and right on the top here we have the actual power button and that, and that is used for the phone there as well as the ringer button. This is kinda convenient because it basically lets you switch from, from the ringer mode to the vibrate mode just by flipping that little switch, and that's kinda nice. That way you don't have to go through the software side of anything, and switch anything in the actual phone. You could just flip it right on the top there. This is the expansion slot. This is obviously a dummy card that comes shipped with the phone to kinda camouflage that expansion slot a little bit. But basically, that is where you're gonna throwing in our SD cards. And on the back here we've gotten a speakerphone, and this is, it actually works really well especially in areas of large noise. So if you do have a chance to use this, make sure you try out the speakerphone because it does work, it does work really well, especially on this, the 600 model. Also, a camera. This is 640x480 resolutions VGA, nothing impressive. Like I said, basically, I mean, all you're looking at is emailing pictures and possibly storing these photos on the actual PDA maybe. You definitely don't want to print these pictures, 640x480, that's 0.3 megapixel resolution, nothing too impressive. So anyways, here's the stylus right on over here, and that kinda hides in there and works great with that touch screen, so let's go ahead and throw that back in there. And, and the keyboard itself here. It is a backlit keyboard right over here, and it's very easy to use especially if you're doing a lot of email or text messaging, you're going to find out that it's a lot easier to use than having to use that ten digit keypad on your, on a traditional phone there, as well as the five navigational buttons up here, they are actually customizable to run different applications or to access different shortcuts. And this five way navigational button is, is also easy to use here. So let's go ahead and take a closer look at the software side of the Treo 600 and see what this thing can do. All right, so here's your basic Palm OS menu. This is, this particular system is running Palm OS 5.2 and I believe that is what it comes shipped with originally there. So from this menu you can basically access all your programs as well as any sync programs that you may have put on here when seeking this device with your actual computer. : It's pretty much has, pretty much has all the features of the standard PDA. You're looking at a memo pad, contacts, different calendars, appointments, to do lists, and from here you can access the, all the different features that the phone has to offer. As the smart phone feature here, you can either dial by hand here, use the stylus, or you can actually use the numbers right on here, which either way of they work. I found out that using your finger is probably the easiest, that way you're not taking out the stylus all the time. And it is an extremely, extremely responsive as far as accuracy. Whatever button you hit, that is usually the button that you’ll see comes up on the actual screen there. However, if you've got some small fingers and you feel like using the actual physical buttons, go ahead and do that also. So let's go ahead and go back to the menu here. Now this does feature a full, a full web browser right over here, and that's accessed through the phone itself, and through our carrier. You can actually go ahead and surf the web using these, this internal browser here. But it's great for SMS messaging or other maybe mobile email, anything that you want to do with this phone basically. There's, there's not a whole lot you can't do, so definitely check this out. This is just kind of a quick run down of everything but if you are interested in, in actually taking a look at this phone, I recommend that you go down to a local cell phone dealer and check it out there because there's nothing like holding it and being able to experience this physically. All right, guys, now that we've taken a look at the Treo 600 a little closer, let's go ahead and talk about some of the specs of this thing. It is offered, it is a smart phone, and it is offered through Singular Wireless, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint, and spring actually does have a carbon color that you can get for this. Obviously, this is the silver one here that I'm holding. Anyways, 144 MHz ARM processor, 32 MB of internal storage and, and also the battery life on this thing actually isn't too bad for how bright the display is. You're looking at approximately six hours of talk time and about 240 days. That's about; I'm sorry, 240 hours. That's approximately ten days of standby time on this particular model. Now it does accept SD cards right on the top there, and MP3 compatibility with third party software, however, that does require that you purchase an additional memory slot so your memory card there is separately. Also, a stereo adapter is required if, if you want to use the MP3 player on this particular model. Like we mentioned, the little camera on the back there, 640x480, nothing impressive but, hey, if you want to send pictures to your friends or even email them, that, that should do you just fine. Infrared port, backlit keyboard, speakerphone, vibrate mode, and also external volume buttons, which are great for silencing calls in case you don't want to take them somewhere, somewhere public. Anyways, we recommend this device for anybody that wants to get rid of their cell phone, their PDA, possibly their camera, maybe even an MP3 player. It is a great little device, all in one. Make sure you kinda get a case for it. It is a little easy to drop and scratch up, especially on the back here. So if you want to keep it new and shiny, go out and buy a case. They're usually ten, fifteen bucks. You can check out Ebay, they've got some great prices there. This is the Treo 600. For more information about this particular product, you can head on over to palm.com, that's p-a-l-m dot com, and I know they have the 650's out, like we mentioned. This is the 600 here. Retail price you're probably looking at about $400 and I know that, that it's just a retail price there. You could probably pick 'em up for around $300. I know I ended up getting mine for about $200 or so, but that was with a new contract with Verizon Wireless. So thanks for watching, and hopefully you get some use out of this thing. So go check it out, palm.com. Once again, the Treo 600.
