    Pros: Convenience, Taste

    Cons: Texture, Price

    Bought this product at: Kroger

If you're in a hurry or need a quick fix side dish Ore Ida is the way to go and tasted better than I expected. However, if price and texture matter more. Peel your own potatoes.

    Transcript of Video Review

Hi, I'm Marley. Today we're going to review the new product from Ore Ida called Steam N' Mash Potatoes. The product I'm reviewing today is the Red Cut Potatoes. What are my thoughts on this product? When I went to the Super Market to pick it up, I noticed that the price was $3.19. When I think about that I could buy a 5 pound bag of potatoes for $2.50, overall the value is not good. However, if you're in a hurry and you need a quick side dish, this is the way to go. Ten minutes in the microwave, two minutes to set, add your milk, butter and this is what you come up with. I think Ore Ida did a good job in adding the skins to the potatoes, to make them more authentic. However, I have big texture issues with the potatoes. Let's just face it, as soon as you freeze a potato, you're going to lose some of the texture and I felt the texture of these potatoes were grainy. I don't think any amount of butter or milk you can add is going to change the overall texture. Taste wise, better than I thought for. They still have kind of an instant mashed potato feel, but overall I thought that Ore Ida did a good job. If you're worried about the price that I spoke about in the beginning, Ore Ida is going to help you out. Go to www.Steamnmash.com where you can find a dollar off coupon. This helps bring the price down to a reasonable $2.19 which will feed a family of four. Overall, I'm on the fence on this product. If you're in a hurry and need a quick fix, I recommend it. If you're going for taste, peel your own potatoes.
