Hi I'm Michael and welcome to Laser Light here on ExpoTV. The DVD up on the screen and up for review is It's a Wonderful Life and it's a wonderful movie. Back in 1946 Frank Capra gave us a movie that was destined to become a television classic. It wasn't a cinema classic. In fact this movie lost money at the box office in 1946. It wasn't until later after it had been airing on television for many years that it became an American tradition to watch during the holidays at home on television. And it's been on every year for as long as I can remember. Let's take a look at a scene now. Where's my hat? Where's my ha oh Oh thank you George. Which is mine? The metal one. Oh oh thank you George. Oh boy oh boy. Now look if you'll point me in the right direction would you do that George? Right down here. Oh Old Building and Loan pal huh Now you just turn this way and then right straight down there. Oh that way huh? My wild Irish rose I'm all right. I'm all right. The story of It's a Wonderful Life is the story of George Bailey. A man who wants nothing more than to leave the small town he's from and travel the world. Events however conspired to keep George in that small town no matter what he tries to do and eventually those events crushed poor George to the point where he makes a wish that he had never been born. And that's when George gets help from above and well you'll have to watch the rest of the DVD to get the rest of that story. And watching this DVD well I can simply say it is one of the most beautiful DVDs that I have ever seen. Totally remastered from an original film negative this movie looks crisp and clear. THX has given approval for the sound. So you know there's no hissing or popping to be found anywhere. Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed do a really great job of bringing you that small town feel that Frank Capra was so famous for. And what's a great movie without a great villain. Lionel Barrymore really chews up the screen every second he's on it and he makes a great villain as Mr. Potter. There's a 28-minute making of documentary on side B of this disc and it really gives you some insights into the It's a Wonderful Life world. Frank Capra Jr. gives us a personal remembrance of his father. I'm going to give It's a Wonderful Life five stars. Yes I've seen it every year for as long as I can remember in several languages and even with Polish subtitles but this movie stands the test of time. It is an American holiday classic. I'm gonna go finish watching and I'll see you at my next review. Thank you.

Now perhaps the most beloved American film, It's a Wonderful Life was largely forgotten for years, due to a copyright quirk. Only in the late 1970s did it find its audience through repeated TV showings. Frank Capra's masterwork deserves its status as a feel-good communal event, but it is also...
