Transcript of Featured Review

Expo TV my name is Shelley and this is a DVD review of the movie The Last Castle and this movie stars Robert Redford and James Gandolfini. Robert Redford stars as Eugene Irwin who is a general who actually was sentenced to prison for disobeying a presidential command and James Gandolfini plays the warden at this prison and he's a little uptight and jealous about the leadership that Robert Redford's character Irwin brings to the prison and how the other prisoners tend to gravitate towards him and look to him as a leader. This is a really good movie. I love seeing James Gandolfini in this role because it's a totally different role than what everybody knows him for with The Sopranos but this movie is rated R. It does have a lot of foul language and some violence in it but it's a wonderful movie. Men like this more so probably than women because it's a prison movie and there's a lot of strategy in it but I do recommend this movie. It does have some special features here some deleted scenes and an HBO special Inside the Castle Walls but I'll go ahead and play a clip from it. [Movie clip] Okay so there you have a clip from the movie The Last Castle. I definitely recommend this movie. Thank you.

Summary
The Last Castle rides high on a wave of American patriotism, respectful of military service and protocol, and primed to ignite anyone's passion for justice against corrupted ideals. This intense prison drama begins when a court-martialed three-star general (Robert Redford) is sentenced to military prison for defying a presidential command. The prison's warden (James Gandolfini) is a jealous martinet who's never seen combat, and when the jailed general seizes command of the prison to protest the warden's abuse of power, The Last Castle erupts toward a classic showdown between integrity and cowardice. Former critic and West Point graduate Rod Lurie ( The Contender ) directs this intimate battle with manipulative skill, appealing more to emotions than intelligence, but his stellar cast keeps the action on track, and a potent script returns flag-waving to its rightful place of honor. --Jeff Shannon
