Good price, good carseat

Reviewed on 02/05/06       Plays: 366

We brought our precious son home in this carseat and have used it for almost 5 months. It's been a great carseat for us during that time.

Hi, I'm reviewing the Graco Snugride Car Seat for infants. This is a really good car seat for the most part. The thing that we liked most about it was that it was relatively inexpensive compared to the car seats that are out there. It's anywhere between $80 and a $100, depending on where you get it. The car seat’s pretty straightforward. You know, there are--there's a buckle here to buckle in the belt, and also this here that goes across the chest. There is a headrest here, a padded head thing for your baby and that's just removable if he doesn't like it. And the handle can go down, so it's easy to take your baby out. And there's also kind of a shade for sun or--or whatever. This is a car seat that you would use when your baby comes home from the hospital. This was the one that we brought my son home in. And it will--basically it's supposed to--to stick with him until he's up to 22 pounds. And so that you know, may last up to 4 - 8 months, depending on how fast your baby grows. The one thing that I would definitely recommend is when you do get your car seat; go to either the police station or somewhere where they can help you make sure that it’s being installed correctly. What they'll do is they'll help you put the base in and they'll show you how to do it right. And that was really helpful. And then they'll kind of show you the different adjustments that you can make to the car seat. The car seat was great up until probably this past month. And for the first time, you know, when my wife was driving, the car seat tipped over, which was kind of scary. And we're not sure if it's because our baby got heavier or whether there's another adjustment that we need to make to the car seat, but we're already looking into a bigger car seat for him because he’s 19 pounds now. So just be careful of that. Maybe look into it a little bit more. But in general, for babies up to I'd say maybe 16, 17 pounds, this is a great car seat. Okay.

By far the most reviewed car seat by Expo members, the Graco SnugRide is the standard starting point for mothers shopping for infant car seats. The 'stay-in-car' base allows the seat to double as a carrier. There are a variety of styles, just make sure your choice includes the EPS (an energy absorbing foam) liner.
