Hi today I'll be reviewing the game New Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo DS handheld system. As the title implies the New Super Mario Brothers is a new version of the Super Mario Brothers series for the Nintendo and Super Nintendo. However it's not just the port of the old games onto the DS system. In fact it's a new story line with entirely new levels and several new power ups including the Mega Mushroom and Blue Turtle shell. It does retain some of the classic elements of the old series however. For example the graphical style is great and it's going to definitely remind you of Super Mario Man for the Super Nintendo. The sound effects and music are also very well done. It has versions of the old Mario theme song as well as new updated remixed versions of Fame. As for the gameplay itself New Super Mario Brothers definitely stays true to its 2D side scrolling roots. It's definitely a platform on which you'll run, jump, fly through a bunch of differently themed worlds collecting power ups such as the fire flower and coins, and stomping on enemies. One great thing about New Super Mario Brothers is that the control scheme is very simple like the old 8-bit version using only the A and B buttons. Despite having a very simple control scheme some of the levels are actually quite challenging and very enjoyable. Another great addition to New Super Mario Brothers is the addition of the mini games. There are tiny mini games, most of them are quite fun, and they are played on the DS's touch screen. You can play these mini games against another human opponent using Nintendo's local wireless technology. New Super Mario Brothers is really E for everyone. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys the 2D side scrolling and game and I think it's worth buying just for the nostalgic value alone.

I have the original on the first Nintendo System but I also now have a Nintendo DS, so with the updated graphics and online play modes of the New Super Mario Bros., is another Super Mario Bros. worth buying?
