The T30, which is one of IBM's laptops, is part of the T series, which is the second most portable series on their line up. It features a 14.1-inch screen and this particular version has a 1.6 Gigahertz processor with speed step, which means that when you save batteries, it'll lower the processor rate. As you can see, the new model has more of a nice glossy top to indicate if it's sleeping, if the battery's on, as opposed to the old models. This is the T23 series. -- It also features steel hinges as opposed to these, I believe it is copper underneath. I'm not quite sure about the steel hinges, which assures more durability so your screen doesn't become flopping around like this. -- The RAM is upgradeable up to 2 Giga, which is very good, because RAM is very significant and it'll help your computer run faster. Another good thing about the T30 series is that you have a touch pad for those of you that like it, or you have the option of the classic IBM keyboard, whereas the previous version, the T2x series did not have, it only had the knob and not the touch pad. However, there are certain drawbacks as the T30 improved upon the T23. The T30 is slightly thicker and the footprint is slightly larger although they have truncated the little corner, it is slightly bigger and slightly heavier. Suttle changes between the T30 and T23 is that the colors of the keys on top are different and that the sound keys are different shape as well. One of my gripes with IBM is that they do not have a windows key and the control key is not placed in the original classic space. However, the keyboards are very nice. It typed very well. It's a full size keyboard, and that's one of what IBM's are known for. This laptop also has a -- has -- features two USB ports, and a built-in wireless, and an Ethernet port, as well as DVI out. It has two PCMII slots as well as these slots to plug-in your audio equipment, your headphone, your microphone, your line-in. -- As with all laptops, it's recommended that you get a laptop cooler for it for the fact that everything else gets really hot under a heavy load. But for those of you that might be looking for something prettier, this might not be the laptop for you. This, all functions, it looks, many people think it looks dated, but my opinion, it's one of the best laptops in the market.
