I was pleasantly suprised at the quality of pictures from this printer - the bonus is that you can also use it as a scanner and copier

Hi, I'm reviewing the HP Photosmart C 4180 all in one printer. This is a good printer for pictures. It's kind of a photo printer with other stuff included. The other stuff being the scanner and also it does copies. It's a pretty good all in one solution. I was pretty impressed with the quality of the pictures that I got from it and the pictures were actually really easy to print out. It does come with software that you can use or it also integrates with your existing software if you want to use that instead. I have a Mac and it works fine with iPhoto and Aperture. And the photos generally came out fine. The quality was very good. If you are doing bordered printing which is that little white strip around the side, if you like that look, it's a little bit harder to align, it might be a little bit uneven but if you are doing borderless, no problem whatsoever. Let me show you a little bit about the features here. There's an LCD here that kind of shows you what's going on. You can also print directly from memory cards which you can insert right here and the LCD is useful for that because it helps you go through the memory card, select your pictures and so on and so forth. The paper goes in down here. There's a guide that you can, you know, kind of make bigger or smaller depending on the type of paper you have so that it goes in straight. There's also for 4x6 if you've ever had problems printing straight or easily on that, they include a cartridge here on the side -- where you can put the 4 x 6 paper in and then it snaps right in here -- and it's really easy. The other feature is that it is a scanner right here and I actually found that it does a pretty good job of recapturing the actual colors that are on the picture. More so than my Epson that I also have which was just a dedicated scanner but it is a little bit older. All in all it is a very good bargain. It's about $150 and it does everything except for you know if you're printing lots of text you probably don't want to be wasting this ink on that particular thing. But if you want to print photos it's really good. Just one note, if you do print photos, when it comes out it'll be wet. It will seem wet, it's not really wet but it will look wet. But it's actually dry and what you'll notice is after a while the pictures look normal like they got printed from a Photocenter. And I was surprised because I thought that they would always just look wet but they actually dry quite nicely and just turn into regular pictures. So the HP Photosmart C 4180, I've been pretty happy with it so far.
