This is my review of Microsoft Windows Vista 32 Bit Ultimate Edition. Here it might mess also known as a desk we have the log-in screen one of the new little features. Even if you re in an enterprise environment you have this kind of fast user switch and log-in that you re a lot of people familiar with Windows XP and you can customize your little picture. Berserk. All right so were gonna log in. Boot up time for windows Vista is I would not say better the next to be able say worst parts that are faster parts that are slower. I've already pre log in that s why this seemed to work faster than normal. Somethings that you notice here this is the sidebar with all of the gadgets on it. This is with the arrow interface and when we zoom in here a little bit and you can kind of see that kind of faded in the background like there s some kind of translucent glass. You can kind of see the image in the back ground and when you look at the toolbar and such you will see that they'll pop up here for the start menu. Some looks familiar to Windows XP one of the nice features about the new start menu. Instead of navigating through page after page after page of programs you can just type in something to has to do with the program like hold for text is hold on and it will show you all of your programs and all of your files. It has the word hold on at your e-mails and anything else that it has index so then if you want to play hold on instead of going through the menu system you just type a hold click on hold on and then it comes up and there you have it text as hold on. Now text as hold on is one of the ultimate edition extras which I will give to you in a minute. So here I'm gonna do a monitor set-up using an in video video card on my del d820 which I reviewed else where. So there is your standard quick launch. Over here once of the nice things about the notification area is it s broken down a lot easier. Here you have all your system time information. This three here are static and you can actually go into your properties and change that that s your power settings your network settings and your sound. And then over her one of your third party program notification icons. So those are the nice little things and then of course it comes standard with all the standard internet explorer windows movie maker blah blah blah. But one of the nice things that people talk about on the new this interface is something that is called a 3-D flip and I will show you its 3-D flip in a minute. Basically what they say you have even though you do a monitor set-up you have programs everywhere. Let say your gonna run a video while your surfing the web let say your surfing the web on one screen and your gonna run a video on another screen. Well the few things that you can do is the 3-D flip. So I m playing the movie over here and I m surfing the web you know going around all the place you hold down the windows key and tab which is very similar to boot tab which you use to the switch programs. So windows stab and now I can 3-D flip throughout my application. So I'm still playing the video and you can see the video as it flashing through with my different options as I hit the tab. And it even has the desktop and there s so if your want to go and see the desktop here you go now you see the desktop you go back to windows tab. On the flip back to my movie and then my movie is up over here and that's pretty nice. And another thing is you have little preview down here and so even if you hover over the start or the whatever they call this thing the menu bar the program bar it will actually show you a preview of what to need to those windows including the video and it will actually show the video running. So that s pretty nifty feature. Things that annoy me about Windows Vista. The price windows vista ultimate edition if you buy it whole retail is $400. You can get an upgrade version for I think $250 and then you can buy what s called the system builder which is the basically what s replaced the OEM you can get that for $200. It s the only difference between the system bellow license and the full license as the fact that you will get Microsoft support who cares? Okay unless you actually use it which I don t so I don t care. So that s one of these turn enough show. Some of the problems I have had with it is the new network TTIP stock is flecky I have had to do several tweaks and patches to get it working right. I ve got it working to where my VPN doesn t drop. I work from home so I run off a VPN all day. If you re gonna runs one of this thing you need a pretty VPN system. I would recommend nothing less than 1 gigagram at least a one and a half to two gigahertz processor and you need a BFE video card especially if you want to do __ because __ only works if you have BFE video card so there you go Windows vista.
