Press Pass the inside scoop on the latest and the greatest direct from the tradeshow floor. Hi I'm Jen Cody from Expo TV. We're here at CES 2008. We're talking to Rob from Canon USA and he's gonna tell us a little bit about the Digital Rebel XTi from Canon. Rob: The Digital Rebel XTi is Canon's current top Rebel camera and for nearly 20 years now the Rebel name has been synonymous with consumer SLR cameras. The best selling camera the best selling SLR camera in America right now and it's because it has so many great features. First of all it's easy to use which anybody who's stepping up to an SLR camera from a point and shoot wants to make sure that it's easy an easy transition and this is and also it gives you so much more functionality that you get with an SLR the ability to stop action precisely to change the lenses to have all that creative control that you want when you're going to an SLR. You can put on a standard kit lens like this one which is an 18-55. You can put on a wide angle you can put on a super telephoto so it's gonna give you that range to shoot whatever kind of photography you want. The range of creative control you get the ability to change the shutter speed the aperture all those kind of settings that you don't normally get to do with a point and shoot camera you can do that with an SLR just like the professionals. You have that manual control but what's great with the Rebel series is you can go fully automatic if you want. You'll notice at the top here is this mode dial. The green mode here is our fully automatic mode so when you're in that mode it's just like you're using a simple point and shoot so if you're just making that transition and you're not sure of what you need to do you leave it in there or if you're comfortable with it but you just want it to be simple and you don't wanna have to think too much you leave it in the automatic. It's a 10.1 megapixel sensor. What's also cool about this camera is we've added our sensor cleaning system to it. Jen Cody: Oh okay. Rob: So that when you change lenses occasionally with SLR one of the things that could happen is dust could get into the body back where the sensor would be. With the sensor cleaner what happens is when you turn the camera on it automatically vibrates the sensor very lightly to shake any dust off the sensor and it's strapped into an area where there's a sticky substance to make sure it doesn't get back on. This camera right now is available as a kit for $599. Jen Cody: And the kit includes that lens you have on it right now? Rob: The kit includes an 18-55 lens and the body alone it will be $499. Jen Cody: $499 great and it's available at stores now right? Rob: It's available widely at many consumer electronics and of course photo stores. Jen Cody: Okay thank you so much Rob. Rob: Thank you. Jen Cody: That's the Digital Rebel XTi from Canon USA.
