I don't know if you like me but I've been weary about buying a digital SLR camera. I have used a Nikon manual camera with film for many many years and what I had seen today in terms of what you're getting for a digital SLR whether prize or quality did not match up to the quality of the prints and the images that I get from my 10 year old Nikon. So I went out today and actually picked up a brand new Canon EOS 30D which is a digital SLR comes with 18x55 lens which I understand from talking to the tone and to the stores and more equivalent of 28x80 and I am going to unbox and take a look of what's inside. Here we go. Start off with the handy instructions here is pack of software which if you're a mac user you can probably throw away. If you have iPhoto started off with a camera body and let's take a look at the body here you can check this out on the store before I bought it home pretty easy to hold and in fact it's very nicely balanced. I do wonder if you have a smaller hand I would if this is as comfortable as it is for my hand which is a standard issue and the lens hand. So this is the body and we're gonna take off the lens. Again this is an 18x55 lens our focus and also our manual option that plugs right in. So we're gonna take off the body cap here okay and matching weight you screw the lens on and I haven't charge this up just taken inside the box for the first time. So the next thing I'm gonna do is charge it up and show you some other things and get if you get a charging station here which appears to have a nice tool which shows you how long it is before it is 100 percent charged. Based on the number of blanks on the charging light and what else do we have? We have our ion battery here and we're gonna plug this in and we're gonna show you how we do. I'll show you some of the other equipment in just a few minutes and does give you this nice EOS strap here and we'll put that on and take some pictures. Okay we're back we've charged the battery for an hour and a half and I've taken some photos both in low light in doors and out doors as well and really got comfortable with the features of the camera. There are lots that weren't here but generally things have been easily laid out easy to use controls. We are talking about a camera which is 8.2 mega pixels it's got a nice LCD monitors about 2.5 inches in diagonal. We also have some other features one of the smaller features but something that come in immediately per shooting in low light is a little button here which actually turns on and illuminates the screen on the top so you can see every large of the controls. Also let's talk about something that worked out. I think SLR cameras have interface recently once you wanna spent quite some money which is very fast frames per second. So if you're taking pictures of sports or your children and you want to grab image very quickly you don't have to wait for the camera to start power in and recycle and often miss the shot. One of the great things here about the Canon is that the battery does not have a great life and there is a solution for that which is to go out and to buy I think this is $19 for digital camera cam corder battery and that's a good accessory to have. And something that usually unless some of the cameras you should get as well is a similar sky light filtered is right on the front of the camera and the benefit there is this glass will break before the glass and the one's that are over you can simply scratch and it's easy to have your fingers crisps cross and filtered. It is essential sky filter cost about $10 bucks. The back up battery that I bought cost about $19 and probably pay a little bit more or maybe a little bit less as well. So this is my first stock with the Canon EOS 30D do you need to spend more time with it but so far so good. It's got a great field and we'll see how the pictures are over the next couple of weeks.
